FENTON, MI (WNEM) -

A suspicious situation that put Fenton Public School families on alert turned out to a lost house painter.

A Tomek-Eastern elementary student said she was standing in her driveway at around 8 a.m. on May 14 waiting for the bus when a red truck with a black tailgate drove by her numerous times.

She said she was scared and went back in her house.

While inside, the girl said she saw the truck pull in her driveway and wait there for approximately 10 minutes, while pointing at her.

Now Fenton Police report that “suspicious” person was a house painter who was trying to find the correct house.

Superintendent Dr. Adam Hartley said the student did the right thing by going back into her house and notifying her parents and reminded parents to talk to their children about awareness and safety.
