Young boy, girl in heartwarming photo reunited at airport

It’s the photo that warmed our hearts and inspired dozens across Mid-Michigan.

A little girl holding the hand of a local little boy as they made their way through Bishop Airport last week.

Now the two friends are meeting up for the first time since the photo was snapped.

Two friends are back together, arm and arm, like they never skipped a beat.

Kendell and Shauntay met on an Allegiant Airline flight headed to Flint last week.

After the flight, the kids were so close they even held hands as they walked through the airport.

The pair stole the hearts of people across Mid-Michigan because of a picture that was shared hundreds of times on social media, they even got a gift from the airlines.

“It’s kids being kids,” said Kenya Menzies, Shauntay’s mom. “When left to their own devices everybody is naturally nice.”

The mothers of the two say it’s no wonder why so many people were touched by this picture.

They say it goes to show that children don’t see difference the way some adults do.

“It just tells you that we do need more good in the world,” said Nicole McCluskey, Kendall’s mom. “And this was a prime example and gives us hope.”

“All the bad stories and bad things we hear it’s just nice to see something pure and innocent,” Menzies said.

Because of the kindness, the pair showed for each other, Allegiant Airlines awarded both families with $100 off their next flight and free parking at Flint Bishop Airport.

“So when they heard this it just really touched their hearts,” said Autumn Perry-MacClaren, the assistant director of marketing and public relations. “It made them want to show kindness in return.”

“It was a great flight, short flight,” McCluskey said. “We had fun and this is definitely very generous.”
