St. Mary’s of Michigan offers FREE stroke screening

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability in the United States.

In honor of National Stroke Awareness Month, St. Mary's of Michigan in Saginaw is taking appointments for free stroke screenings.

This year alone, nearly 800,000 people in the country will suffer a stroke, but up to 80 percent of strokes are preventable

The screenings will take place Wednesday, May 16 from 9 a.m. until noon at the hospital on Washington Street.

They include a total cholesterol test, as well as glucose and blood pressure screening. The screening is open to those who have not had their cholesterol tested in at least six months.

Space is limited and appointments are required.
