One Mid-Michigan couple will be celebrating their wedding on Saturday.

A snafu involving their bridesmaids’ dresses nearly turned that joyous day into a disaster before it even got started.

“Why can’t you say you’re sorry and make it right,” said Jennifer Imhoff, bride.

Instead of focusing on the ceremony, her attention has been consumed by what she calls subpar bridesmaid dresses. She claims Sempliners Bride and Formal in Bay City dropped the ball.

“They’ve been rude to my bridesmaids, not accommodating. Yesterday a bridesmaid went and picked up a dress and it wasn’t even complete. So 10 o’clock last night I’m finding a seamstress in Saginaw, paying her not to go on vacation to fix a dress today and my wedding is tomorrow,” Imhoff said.

Kim Grant is the store manager at Sempliners.

“I’m really disappointed that we didn’t come through for them. That they feel that what we did was not satisfactory. That is never something that the store wants to represent,” Grant said.

She said she doesn’t wish anything but happiness for Imhoff and her soon-to-be wife.

“Jennifer and Jessica were up to this point very lovely girls to work with. I didn’t know we had a problem until literally this Monday,” Grant said.

The issue is the amount of alterations that had to be made to the dresses.

Imhoff said after fittings and alterations, three of the five dresses still needed more work. That’s something Grant said she takes seriously.

“It’s distressing that alterations has come into play when that’s something we take a lot of pride in,” Grant said.

As for Imhoff, she hopes her day will be remembered for her wedding not the dresses.

“Stressed because I know that now all the dresses are going to be different lengths. I have a dress that’s not completed still. I have a bridesmaid that has to get sewn into her dress so the chest is not falling down. So, it’s not right,” Imhoff said.
