Woman dies from injuries sustained in I-75 crash

Posted: Updated:

A Mid-Michigan woman died from injuries she sustained in a car accident on I-75 Sunday night.

It happened about 11:30 p.m.on southbound I-75 just before Busch Road near Birch Run.

The family of 31-year-old Allyson Wilson, of Flint, confirmed her death with TV5. She died Wednesday, May 23 at St. Mary's in Saginaw.

Lt. Dave Kaiser with Michigan State Police said when officers arrived on scene they found a vehicle on the inside lane with significant damage. Another vehicle was found about 75 yards down the interstate.

Wilson was found lying outside the first vehicle against the median wall with significant injuries, Kaiser said. She was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

Investigators believe the first vehicle was either stopped in the road, or had crashed and become disabled, when the second vehicle struck it.

Police are not sure how Wilson came to be outside the car.

Occupants of the second vehicle were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Kaiser said.

Southbound lanes on I-75 were shut down for an hour-and-a-half while police investigated.

The crash remains under investigation.
