A Michigan mother who was arrested after cops say her five-year-old son tested positive for cocaine has been cleared.

Starla McCray, 37, has been released from jail and reunited with her son with no charges filed.

"I'm just completely humiliated. I'm not that monster that they tried to make me look like,” McCrary said.

McCrary said she brought her son to Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit because she had concerns that something could be wrong.

"I brought him to be get screened for ADHD, doing what a mother should do for her child,” she said.

But then McCrary said all Hell broke loose when five-year-old Malik was tested for cocaine. The mother said she was shocked by the results.

"He's crying, while they’re taking me away, don’t take my Mom,” she said.

McCrary was locked up in a jail cell.

"After 36 hours they had to let me go. As I’m walking out the lieutenant waiting on me apologized to me a said Children’s called him and said the results was a mistake,” McCrary said.

The hospital released the following statement:

Detroit Medical Center takes its responsibility to our pediatric patients and their families very seriously. Our lab team and our hospital leaders are deeply sorry for the unfortunate situation that occurred as a result of a testing error.

We have communicated the error to authorities and have reached out to the family to express our sincere apologies and to confirm that our staff sought out to act in what they believed to be the best interest of the child.

McCrary said she’s still upset.

"I’m just completely hurt by all of this and I just want the world to know I would never hurt my son. Never hurt my son and the way I’ve been treated, like I’m the worst parent in the world. My son is my life,” she said.

McCrary said getting her son the help he needs is still her first priority.
