ESSEXVILLE, MI (WNEM) -

Police are monitoring a Mid-Michigan area after two joggers reported a suspicious situation.

The Essexville Public Safety Department said they were made aware of an incident involving two joggers and a vehicle which had pulled up on the wrong side of the road.

The joggers told police two dark-clothed men then got out of the vehicle.

“It is important to stress two things. First, the joggers did the right thing by calling the police because they were uncomfortable with the situation. We cannot emphasize how strongly we encourage residents and visitors to call the police when something is suspicious or makes them uncomfortable.

The second point is that although certainly suspicious and we take this seriously, there was no crime committed and no apparent attempt to commit a crime - aside the parking on the wrong side of the road.”

The department said at this point, the situation is only considered “suspicious.”

Officials didn't release where in the city the situation occurred, but said patrols will be in the area to make sure residents feel safe.
