Local couple sentenced for sex trafficking minor for drug money

Posted: Updated:

A Saginaw couple have been sentenced for sex trafficking of a minor.

Melvin Pully, 57, has been sentenced to 190 months in federal prison after admitting to causing a 16-year-old girl to engage in commercial sex acts from Nov. 2016 through Feb. 6, 2017.

His wife, Meleney Pully, 38, was sentenced to 230 months in federal prison for the same charge.

As part of their pleas, the couple admitted to acting together to provide the location for the sex acts to take place and took the proceeds.

Prosecutors said Meleney advertised on backpage.com.

TV5 previously reported the girl was a runaway, and the couple used the money to feed their drug habit.

“This case shows the brutality of sex trafficking at its worst, and we hope these sentences offer victims across Michigan comfort knowing that we will vigorously prosecute these heinous crimes,” said United States Attorney Matthew Schneider.
