ONTONAGON COUNTY (WNEM) -

After spending the night outside in the rain with an off-road vehicle on top of him, a missing Michigan man has been found alive.

Search parties were called in after Thomas Kettunen, of Trout Creek, in Ontonagon County, didn’t return on Thursday night.

Caregivers said they heard the 66-year-old man leave his home on his Honda rancher off-road vehicle at around 6 pm on Thursday.

Kettunen has serious health conditions, and when he failed to return, his caregivers reported him missing.

A search including DNR conservation officers, Michigan State Police, the Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office, Superior Search and Rescue, and others began at around 10:30 p.m. and went through the night.

Despite heavy rainfall that obscured his ORV tracks and made searching difficult, Kettunen was found alive on Friday, with his ORV on top of him.

His current condition is unclear.
