UPDATE: Precautionary boil filtered water advisory lifted in Flint

Posted: Updated:
FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A precautionary boil filtered water advisory has been lifted for Flint water customers.

Rob Bincsik, the City of Flint Director of Public Works, said crews completed repairs to a water main break on Saturday, May 26.

"The break has been fixed and we have received satisfactory results from samples collected showing the water is now safe to use without boiling first," Bincsik said.

The advisory was issued after a water main break that happened on one of the city’s 24” transmission mains.

The severity of the water main break caused large-scale water system depressurization.

The affected area was near Van Slyke and 12th Street.

Residents are advised to change filter cartridges before using.
