COLEMAN, MI (WNEM) -

Memorial Day was established to remember the people who died while serving with the US Armed Forces.

On Sunday in Coleman, Corporal Casey Zylman along with all other service members who’ve passed were honored with a local concert.

The eighth annual United by Sacrifice concert was held at Bomber’s Bar and Grill and headlining was the rock group Great White.

Zylman was killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom when his vehicle ran over an improvised explosive device in 2007.

“We wanted to do something positive for our community and represent all the people who have and are serving our county,” said Amie Zylman, a committee member of Coleman Veterans Memorial.

The event welcomes the entire family. All proceeds go to maintenance for the Coleman Veteran’s Memorial.

“It brings people together, I like music, I like being able to see everybody and my friends like to do this too and I get to help everybody out it’s nice,” said Angelie and Josie Balliet, volunteers at the event.
