SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

A 16-year-old boy was believed to be under the influence of drugs when police were told he reached into the open window of a car and grabbed a child.

It happened on May 18 at Lawndale Estates in Saginaw Township.

Saginaw Township Police said they were called after the teen allegedly reached into the vehicle and grabbed a 9-year-old girl’s arm.  He did not get her out of the vehicle and was taken into custody.

Police said he was then taken to the hospital for medical treatment, but police said it’s unclear what type of drug he may have been under the influence of.

The teen is facing one count of assault and battery for grabbing the girl.  He’s also facing another count of assault and battery after a man seated in another vehicle said he felt something strike his face.

The Saginaw County Prosecutor’s Office issued a juvenile petition for the two counts, and the case will be handled in Juvenile Court.
