A Mid-Michigan family is asking for the community’s help finding their missing daughter who has been missing for more than a month.

Kristi Leonard said her daughter, 15-year-old Kaitlyn Rose Leonard, was last seen Sunday, May 20 at her home on Maple Ridge Road in Sterling. Kristi believes Kaitlyn may have left between 9:30 p.m. Sunday and 4:30 a.m. Monday.

“She is classified as missing right now, but the possibility of her being a runaway is strong. It is believed she had help leaving, as the screen from her bedroom window looks as if it was popped open from the outside. Her backpack is missing, along with some of her clothing,” Kristi wrote in a Facebook post.

Kristi said Kaitlyn takes medication, but there is only one missing.

“I am seriously concerned about her starting to go through withdrawals. If you are with Kaitlyn and notice any symptoms of withdrawals, please take her to the nearest emergency room. Just drop her off, no questions asked. This can be very serious and life threatening,” she wrote.

Kaitlyn is described as 5’5” tall and approximately 140 pounds. She has burgundy hair and hazel eyes. Kaitlyn wears thick, black-framed glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Arenac County Sheriff’s Office at 989-846-3002 or contact the CFSI directly at 512-887-3519.
