HOLLY, MI (WNEM) -

An adorable exercise trend has made its way to Mid-Michigan.

Goats are usually on the farm for milk, but in 2018 they have become some people’s favorite yoga partner.

“She was like, ‘hey you should come to goat yoga.’ And I was like, I like goats. So, I was all for it,” said Marissa Parks, Linden resident.

Parks said a coworker wrangled her into trying out goat yoga for the first time. She drove almost 30 minutes to a 150-year-old barn in Holly to try it out herself.

Ethos Yoga Owner Kathryn Nicolai said goats are the perfect animal to bring from the farm onto the mat.

“So when we practice with animals it helps us see through their eyes and stay present and also just have some fun,” Nicolai said.

Before the hour-long session, the goats are treated to a spa day to get cleaned up and ready for guests. Nicolai said that doesn’t mean it’s your average yoga class.

“Just come ready to be a little silly, get a little dirty and have a lot of fun,” Nicolai said.

While you get your workout in, the goats do pretty much whatever they want.

There’s 10 goats at the farm. Parks said the goats put you at ease, especially if you’re not an expert in the yoga world.

“Having the goats just made it so much more relaxing and fun. So it wasn’t intimidating or scary at all,” Parks said.

Spots are $25 for people ages 16 and up. You must pre-register and pre-pay for a class.
