MT. MORRIS, MI (WNEM) -

At 6-years-old, Landon Fisher has dealt with more hardships than just about anyone his age.

Landon was born with a slew of issues including missing a kidney. Despite his challenges, he has maintained a positive outlook on life.

He even knows what he wants to be when he grows up and it’s that passion that has led to an incredible friendship.

“He said, ‘I want to be a police officer,’” Mt. Morris Police Officer Yacob Young said.

He was patrolling Landon’s neighborhood about two years ago when he stopped to talk to Landon. Landon was fascinated with Young’s police cruiser because he had one too.

“It was all decked out with police on it, lights and sirens and all that. I took a liking to that and said, ‘let’s start meeting together and we’ll start talking about police duties,” Young said.

Since the dynamic duo met, they have spent a lot of time together.

The city of Mt. Morris Police Department even made Landon an honorary police officer at the station. They gave him a badge and a uniform.

Young and Landon meet at Landon’s house every Sunday.

Jennifer Fisher, Landon’s mom, said the two talk shop and patrol the neighborhood. She said Young has really helped bring Landon out of his shell.

“It has affected him from a young age. Having this in his life, having Officer Young in his life means a lot to us and him,” she said.

Landon waits outside every week for Young. He looks forward to the fun they always have.

“Because he’s nice and he lets me turn on his lights,” Landon said.

Landon said it’s not all fun and games though. He said he does have some official police business to take care of with bad guys on the run.

“He was racing with another person and crashed and kept on going and he’s still on the run. He’s been on the loose for four days,” Landon said.
