A disturbing case of child abuse happened at a home in Mid-Michigan.

Two preteens were sexually assaulted for years.

The man accused of committing the acts is already behind bars, but police arrested his wife on Thursday, May 31.

Brian and Dhiannah Fawcett were both charged after two preteens were sexually assaulted in their Oakley home.

“Over a lengthy period of time. This wasn’t just a one time thing. This was over years,” Saginaw County Sheriff Lt. Miguel Gomez said. “I’d say it was torture more than anything.”

Dhiannah Fawcett, 40, was the caretaker of the kids. She was charged with second-degree child abuse, accused of knowing what Brian Fawcett was doing.

“These two young ladies are going to be scarred for the rest of their life. And Dhiannah Fawcett should’ve protected them,” Gomez said. “She didn’t come out and confess. But she admitted to having some knowledge to this thing or that thing. But you can’t have acknowledgment of one thing and not the other.”

Brian Fawcett, 58, was charged in April with two counts of criminal sexual conduct.

“He has a prior history. So him being in close proximity to these children, that in itself doesn’t make sense to me,” Gomez said.

Gomez said the detective in charge of the case wanted justice for the victims and continued to build a case against Dhiannah Fawcett after her husband was behind bars.

“In most cases, once the perpetrator has been charged the investigation is over. I’m proud Larry Benicki decided it wasn’t right that these children weren’t protected by the person who’s supposed to protect them,” Gomez said.

Gomez said Dhiannah Fawcett’s next court date will be within the next two weeks.
