CARO, MI (WNEM) -

One man was charged and taken to jail after fleeing from deputies in a high-speed chase.

At about 12:43 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, deputies from the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office were patrolling M-24, south of Caro.

Deputies saw a vehicle going 71 mph and attempted to stop it. It quickly turned west onto Bliss Road going 98 mph.

The vehicle then turned south on to Bruisee Road without stopping at the stop sign.

Deputies chased down the suspect and arrested him.

The driver was taken to McLaren in Caro for treatment of any injuries.

He was released from the hospital and lodged in jail.

The driver was charged with operating while intoxicated, fleeing and eluding, and resisting and obstructing officers.

One deputy was slightly injured in the foot chase.
