MICHIGAN, (WNEM) -

The Michigan State Police are introducing some very special additions.

The department has added three new furry partners to the MSP Canine Unit.

First up is K9 Duke, the department’s only yellow Labrador.

K9 Mike is the department’s third black Labrador, and both are vapor wake canines. That means they are trained to detect the scent of explosives when they are in motion, or in a crowd.

You might see them out at large crowds like concerts, festivals, or sporting events.

Last but not least is K9 Baki. Officer Baki is a German Shepherd and is the department’s newest accelerant detection canine.

That means the dog is trained to search areas and properties to detect possible accelerants used in a fire.
