FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

The Secretary of State has suspended the license of a Mid-Michigan used-car dealer.

Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced Mamoon Alenooz has been suspended from operating Mikes CARS LLC, 2101 S. Dort Highway, for allegedly failing to follow proper record-keeping procedures, as required by law.

Secretary of State (SOS) agents report they conducted an inspection of Mikes CARS and found nine vehicles sold to customers that the dealership hadn’t applied for title and registration within the required 15 days of vehicle delivery.

Since that date, three consumer complaint cases have been investigated, and an additional no-title complaint was received, according to the SOS. A follow-up inspection was done and resulted in multiple violations being issued.

“Our investigators are ready to follow up on any complaints we receive and regularly perform compliance inspections,” Johnson said. “We are ready to take action against the relatively few auto dealers who don’t follow the law.”

Dealer records are required by law to be maintained and made available for inspection during reasonable or established business hours for a period of five years. Laws requiring detailed recordkeeping protect against the sale of stolen vehicles and parts, and ensure the vehicle buyer receives a valid title and proper registration.

Consumers who have a complaint against Mikes CARS are encouraged to call the Office of Investigative Services automotive complaint line at (517) 335-1410.
