Army Corps of Engineers is asking for photos of Great Lakes sites

DETROIT (WNEM) -

The Army Corps of Engineers, in the Detroit district, is looking for the best pictures of different sites on the Great Lakes.

Photographers need to get pictures from the Soo Locks, Duluth Ship Canal or from a Corps pier, breakwater or federal harbor on the lakes

The pictures should highlight the US Army Corps of Engineers projects, this includes piers, breakwaters, or facilities.

Digital submissions can be emailed through Sunday, June 10 at 11:59 p.m.

Once the photos are collected, they will be posted on as a Facebook album on Monday, June 11.

The public can then vote on their favorite ones using the like button until Monday, June 25.

The top 12 will be used in the 2019 downloadable calendar.

First, second, and third place will be awarded a plaque with their winning photo by the Soo Locks Visitors Center Association and Lake Superior Marine Association.

Contestants must be 18-years-old to participate.

Professional photographers, US Army Corps of Engineers employees, and board members of the SLVCA and LSMMA cannot participate.
