SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A local woman is deeply concerned about the safety of her family and others.

She has had vehicles plow through her front yard countless times and she said something has to be done.

The latest incident has caused thousands of dollars in damages.

“Please Saginaw County, do something. This is enough,” said Connie Barst, Carrollton Township resident.

Barst is worried about her family’s safety because she said her home sits in a valuable spot at the end of McCarty Road.

There’s a light and sign at the end of the road, but that didn’t make a difference on Sunday, June 2.

“We woke up to a loud crash and I thought it’s probably someone who came up our driveway,” Barst said.

She said she knew right away because it has happened five times before.

“Sure enough, we looked out and this truck was embedded into the back of my daughter’s vehicle,” Barst said.

The driver also smashed into Barst’s truck, causing thousands in damages.

Barst is worried her daughter’s truck is too smashed up to even fix.

“My daughter’s truck may be totaled and her truck is worth a lot, but the insurance, if you look it up it’s not gonna be worth anything. So she’s gonna lose her truck,” she said.

The damage doesn’t stop there.

Barst, who suffers from an incurable disease that affects the tissues in her neck, said the hot tub she uses for medical therapy was hit and it now deemed an electrical hazard.

She said the driver also took out the family’s brand-new fence they just put in place for her therapy dog.

Barst said she has reached out to the Saginaw County Road Commission for several years asking for rumble strips to be installed, but nothing has been done.

“The road commission will evaluate the intersection to determine if it warrants any extra signage or traffic control devices and crash history will be reviewed,” Saginaw County Road Commission Director Dennis Bouchard said.

Barst said she is waiting on that much needed change.

“I need them to do something before it’s too late, before someone gets killed or really really injured,” she said.

Police have issued a warrant for the blood test of the driver involved in the crash. Those results are pending.
