GENESEE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The Genesee County Health Department issued a public health advisory after a case of hepatitis A was confirmed at a local restaurant.

An employee of Fenton Winery & Brewery, 1370 N. Long Lake Road in Fenton, was diagnosed with the disease, the health department said on June 6.

Guests who ate or drank at the restaurant from May 26 through May 31 may have been exposed. That does not include bottled products, the health department said.

The health department is recommending anyone who visited the restaurant during those dates who have not been vaccinated for hepatitis A to contact their healthcare provider. The vaccination can prevent the disease if given within 14 days of exposure.

Michigan is experiencing a serious outbreak of the disease and Genesee County is considered an outbreak county, the health department said.
