BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Officers in Bay City are searching for whoever fired paintballs at several homes.

Neighbors woke up Thursday morning to find their homes covered in paint. Police said most of the incidents happened on the city’s west side.

“Little annoyed. It’s more of a prank than anything,” said Andrew Neigh, Bay City resident.

Neigh is one of several residents who woke up to the aftermath of paintball shots at his home. Despite his property being hit, he is glad it wasn’t worse.

“I’m thankful that they used ones that could be easily washed off because once you took the hose to it, it just comes clean off,” Neigh said.

While Neigh knew his home got hit, his neighbor Randi Kruse did not.

“I see. That’s ridiculous,” Kruse said once she found out.

Police said the vandals struck homes mostly on the west side of town.

“It’s not polite though. They need to take care of it,” Kruse said.

One woman, who didn’t want to be identified, said she was shot at with a paintball gun while sitting on her front porch two weeks ago.

“It went right past the right side of my head and they just kept shooting,” she said. “I’m still scared. You know, to walk out not knowing whether or not you’re going to get shot. That’s scary.”

She claims a group of adults drove by in a car and shot at her.

“Grow up, don’t do it,” she said.

Meanwhile, police said they don’t know if the incident two weeks ago is connected with the early morning vandalism.

Investigators also said they don’t have a description of the people who may have done this.

Neigh hopes whoever is firing rounds of paintballs go somewhere else for target practice.

“There are places you can go. Places you can do this a lot better than trying to do it in the middle of a neighborhood,” he said.
