NWS warns of dangerous swimming conditions in Mid-Michigan

HURON COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazard statement for dangerous swimming conditions until 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The NWS said high wave action and dangerous swimming conditions are expected.

The alert is used for beaches from Caseville to Harbor Beach in Huron County.

“High wave action alone can make swimming difficult on days such as this. Incoming waves in rapid succession can tire a swimmer quickly,” the NWS said.

The NWS said children should not enter the water unsupervised and without a certified flotation device. Caution should be used when in or near the water.

Swimmers should also pay attention to flags and signs posted near beach access points and lifeguard stations.
