UNIVERSITY CENTER, MI (WNEM) -

A Delta College board trustee announced he is resigning.

R. Earl Selby has been on the Delta College Board of Trustees since February 1992.

His resignation is effective June 22.

“He has been a highly valued member of the Board, advocating for his constituents and for Delta College,” Delta College President Dr. Jean Goodnow said.

Selby was elected to four terms and has served as chair of the board twice.

“Earl was one of the three Trustee members who served on the search committee when I applied to become Delta College’s fourth president in 2005,” Goodnow said. “Over the years, it’s been an honor to get to know him. He’s a very supportive, trusted colleague and friend who has provided invaluable guidance. He will be greatly missed.”

The board is looking for a Saginaw County resident to fill Selby’s vacancy until a successor is elected at the next regular community college election in 2018.

To qualify, you must be at least 21-years-old, a Michigan resident for at least six months, and a resident of Saginaw County for at least 30 days.

The position is not paid.

Board members are expected to prepare for and attend 12 regularly scheduled board meetings each year.
