The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of about 78,000 Werner brand aluminum ladders due to the risk of breaking while in use. The ladders were sold at Home Depot and Lowe's stores nationwide in April and May.

Five models of the ladders are included in the recall:

Model # Date Codes Ladder Size

MT-IAA-17A 121744XX or 011844XX 17 feet

MT-IAA-26 121744XX or 011844XX 26 feet
MT-IAA-26A 121744XX or 011844XX 26 feet

The recalled ladders have a load capacity of 375 pounds.

The CPSC said customers who have purchased these ladders should stop using them immediately and return them to the store for a refund.
