SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Investigators returned to the scene of a crash that later claimed the life of an elderly woman.

The crash happened about 12:18 p.m. Thursday, July 12 at the intersection of Davenport and McEwan Streets in Saginaw.

Witnesses told police a vehicle was heading southbound on McEwan when it disregarded the stop sign. The vehicle was struck broadside by another vehicle traveling west on Davenport.

Investigators said there are no traffic signals for the one-way traffic traveling west.

The driver of the at-fault vehicle is a 73-year-old man, police said. He was taken to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw in critical condition.

His front seat passenger, 94-year-old Jean Pelletier, was taken to Covenant by ambulance. She later died from her injuries.

It’s unclear if the driver of the second vehicle, a 25-year-old man, was injured.

The crash is still under investigation.
