A fitness center is giving McKenna's Beauty Bar some extra muscle.

Snap Fitness held a fundraiser on Thursday to help bring a beauty bar to Hurley Medical Center.

McKenna Schummer was the young Grand Blanc girl who died months ago of a rare bone cancer.

"When we decided to do a battle, our WERQ instructor actually works with McKenna's mom. And they said I want to turn this into a fundraiser and I want to benefit McKenna's Squad. So she said it can be as small or as large as you want to make it. So if we're going to do it, we're going to do it big," said Staci Daly, Snap club manager.

McKenna found a love of a make-up and her parents opened a beauty bar at Detroit’s Children's Hospital last month to help other sick children.

Now, one for Flint is in the works.

"That's what makes it so bittersweet is she can go out and effect so any people and she's not even here anymore. That's what motivated us to keep going and just sharing her love and her legacy," Daly said.

The fitness dance fundraiser was held Aug. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Snap Fitness in Holly.

The event was free, but staff accepted donations for the beauty bar.
