Four men arrested after trespassing on private property

CLARE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Four men trespassing on private property are behind bars after police found they were wanted for their involvement in manufacturing a meth lab. 

Clare County Sheriff's deputies were called about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7 to the area of 4800 N. Clare Avenue regarding several people trespassing on the property. The owner of the property told investigators no one was supposed to be at the location.

When police arrived, they found the four men were wanted on arrest warrants. 

Ian Knoertzer, 36, of Gladwin was charged with the following crimes:

  • Controlled substance – operating or maintaining a lab involving methamphetamine
  • Lying to a peace officer
  • Habitual offender 4th offense

His bond was set at $120,000 cash/10%

Gary Shimmell, 43, of Harrison was charged with:

  • Controlled Substance – operating or maintain a lab involving methamphetamine
  • Controlled Substance – operating or maintain a lab in the presence of a minor
  • Harboring felons
  • Controlled substance – maintaining a drug house
  • Habitual offender 2nd offense

His bond was set at $80,000 cash/10%

Kenneth Young, 28, of Harrison was charged with:

  • Controlled substance – possession of methamphetamine/ecstasy
  • Controlled substance – operating or maintaining a lab in presence of minor
  • Habitual offender 4th offense

His bond was set at $150,000 cash/10%

Randolph Simmon, 20, of Farwell was charged with:

  • Disorderly person - loitering about illegal business

His bond was set at $2,500 cash/10%

All four men were arrested and booked in the Clare County Jail.
