Police: 2 dead, 1 critically injured after wrong-way crash on I-75

FLINT TWP., Mich. (WNEM) - Two people are dead and one was left badly injured after a wrong-way crash on I-75 Saturday night.
Flint Township Police said the crash happened about 10:35 p.m. on northbound I-75 near Beecher Road.
Police said a 43-year-old Flint Township man was driving his car south in the northbound lanes when he crashed head-on into a car with three people inside. He has since been identified as Richard Calvin Fields, Jr.
The crash killed 24-year-old Lauren Shoens, of Flushing, and 31-year-old Richard Pepitone, of Mundy Township. It also left a 27-year-old Flushing resident in critical condition.
Flint Township Police believe the wrong-way driver had been drinking.
Fields was arraigned on Wednesday, May 31 for two counts of second-degree homicide, two counts of operating while intoxicated causing death, two counts of operating with a revoked license causing death, one count of operating while intoxicated causing serious injury, and one count of operating with a revoked license causing serious injury.
