Too little too late for the Tigers in Game 3 of the ALDS
DETROIT, Mich. (WNEM) - After nearly a three-hour rain delay, the Tigers hosted the Mariners for Game 3 of the ALDS.
That delay didn’t help the home team as Seattle jumped out to a 4-0 lead and took the air out of Comerica Park.
Detroit scored in 5th inning but by the bottom of the 9th, the Mariners held a 8-1 lead.
The Tigers would rally for three runs but it was too little too late as Seattle would earn an 8-4 win in Game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead.
“They got here for a reason too and they won some of the at-bats and certainly hit the ball out of the ballpark a couple times,” Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said. “I thought the slider that Crawford hit out backed up. You don’t see many left handed hitters go oppo at night here like Cal did. Obviously Geno. They do hit homers when you make mistakes but we’re going to play the rest of this series out and see if we can answer the challenge of getting through this lineup and putting up more runs.“
Game 4 will be at Comerica Park on Wednesday. Casey Mize is expected to be the starting pitcher for the Tigers.
