Police found skimmers on two gas pumps at a Mid-Michigan gas station.
Police said the skimmers were on pumps one and two at the 7-Eleven in Birch Run.
Drivers should check their cards for any strange charges from Dec. 8 through Jan. 14.
Skimmers can work really fast.
"Typically you're talking less than 20 seconds," said Robert Derubeis, with the Department of Agriculture.
His office oversees inspections of credit card skimmers and routinely checks pumps.
"The skimmer we found today is a type of skimmer where the criminal needs to go back to the dispenser and physically obtain it to obtain the information," Derubeis said.
He said they are starting to see new types of skimmers where the thief doesn't have to return to the pump.
"It's really a challenge for operators in Michigan," Rerubeis said.
He said if it looks like the tape on a machine has been sliced or tampered with don't use that pump. The best thing to do is to pay with cash inside the gas station.
If drivers do find any inconsistencies on their cards, they should call the Birch Run Police Department at 989-624-1113.
