Clare woman sentenced in stabbing death of boyfriend

A Mid-Michigan woman has been sentenced in a domestic dispute turned deadly.

Michelle Ann McQuay, 58, pleaded guilty in May to murder in the second degree for stabbing and killing her live-together partner, Daniel Kruskamp. A judge sentenced McQuay on Tuesday, June 12 to 22.5 years to 50 years, with credit for 407 days served to date, according to the Clare County Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigators found Kruskamp with a stab wound to the chest on May 7, 2017 at a home on W. Wheaton Street in the city of Clare.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

McQuay was also ordered to pay $60 DNA fee, $68 state costs, $130 crime victim rights assessment and $600 court appointed attorney fees.
