A Davison man has been charged in connection with a double fatal crash from August.
Michael Burns, 45, of Davison (formerly of North Branch) was arraigned earlier this month on multiple charges including operating while intoxicated causing death and reckless driving in connection with the fatal accident on August 25, 2019.
Deputies said they were called to N. Lapeer (M-24) north of Mayfield Road in Lapeer at around 3:41 p.m. after a 2005 GMC Envoy traveling north crossed the center line and crashed head-on with a 2012 Harley Davidson.
The motorcycle rider, 53-year-old Brian Stamp, and his passenger, 51-year-old Rhonda McHaffy, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The two were both from Marlette and they were boyfriend and girlfriend, the sheriff's office said.
Witnesses told deputies the Envoy was driving erratically prior to the crash.
Burns was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following the crash.
