Authorities: Michigan man apparently killed mother, self

Three people are dead, another person critically hurt after their vehicle crashed into a tree.

It happened on Reilly Road between Townline and Towerhill Roads in Roscommon County, south of Houghton Lake at around 6: 51 a.m. on Oct. 20.

Michigan State Police report that someone called 911 after finding the vehicle with the people still trapped inside.

The driver was removed and taken to the hospital. The three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Michigan State Police told TV5 that they believe speed was a factor in the crash that caused the vehicle to hit the tree and guardrail, but it’s unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor.

The driver and two of the three passengers were wearing seatbelts, according to troopers.

The names of the victims have not been released.
