Michigan DNR officers arrested two men wanted by local police in connection with a Saginaw County crime spree.
Investigators said Conservation Officer Will Brickel received a call about 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 25 from a Shiawassee River State Game Area employee who reported a truck appeared stuck in a section that is off-limits to motor vehicles.
Even though Brickel was off-duty, he went to the scene to find the stranded vehicle and record the license plate number. He then noticed two men walking on a trail.
Brickel said he approached the men and identified himself as a conservation officer. That’s when the two men allegedly took off running into the woods.
Brickel, along withOfficers Joe Myers and Adam Beuthin, worked as a team to find the men. When officers were closing in, the men ran again but eventually surrendered after a brief chase.
The men were taken into custody without further incident.
The officers later found the truck was stolen and the two men were suspected of at least 30 breaking and entering incidents from the prior night.
The men were turned over to the Chesaning Police Department, which is continuing the investigation.
