The Frankenmuth High School Football Team is on the path to take home a state championship, but the road to Ford Field in Detroit includes a nearly 400 mile excursion for the Eagles.
On Friday they headed to the Upper Peninsula for the Division 5 semifinal.
A large crowd gathered at the school Friday morning to send the team off as they boarded charter buses for the long trip.
"It's great to have the community support. You know, it doesn't matter what sport or what activity here in Frankenmuth," Coach Phil Martin said.
Parents also attended the send-off to show support for the team.
"We're hoping for a win and either way, no matter how it turns out, these guys have worked hard, played hard and they are brothers," said Susan Reider, player's mom.
The game starts at 1 p.m. on Saturday. They face Menominee at the Superior Dome in Marquette.
