A 26-year-old Gladwin man has been arrested for armed robbery.

The robbery happened about 11:40 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31 in Saginaw Township.

The victim, a 62-year-old Gladwin County man, told deputies he was releasing a trapped snapping turtle from his yard on Eagleson Road when a vehicle pulled up behind him. The driver told the victim to “hold up” before approaching him and demanded money.

The victim told police the suspect was holding a pistol during the robbery.

Investigators initially released a sketch of the suspect. Police said they received information linking the 26-year-old man to the armed robbery and were able to obtain a search warrant for his home.

The suspect was arrested during a traffic stop, where police found a hand gun and ammunition. They also found more evidence linking the man to the robbery.

The suspect is being held at the Gladwin County Jail on a four-count felony warrant pending his arraignment. His name was not immediately released.
