A local police department is already seeing the success of their new K9 officer.

K9 Officer Kash and his handler, Sgt. Jolman, were asked by a neighboring jurisdiction on July 1 to help find an individual who fled the scene of a crash.

Kash found the man in a subdivision down the road from where the accident occurred.

He was taken into custody for fleeing the scene of a crash and for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to Grand Blanc Police Department.

“This marks the first of what should be many successful tracks from this K9 team!” the department wrote on Facebook.

Kash is a Belgian Malinois being trained by Magnum K9 in Quincy.
