Residents along a shrinking lake are looking at legal action to try and bring the levels back up to normal.

Wixom Lake in Edenville is down at least seven feet since the end of September, according to residents.

That’s because the company that owns the dam lost its license to operate, requiring the water behind the dam to be lowered.

The Wixom Lake Association is trying to force the dam owner to maintain the lake at a normal level.

The association has only 300 members, out of 3,000 homes around the lake.

“If we could get a thousand members, or 1,500 to become members and donate to our association, that would give us the necessary funds to be able to complete our task and get this lake level order written and presented so that we can get our lake back,” said Todd Pruss with the lake association.

Members hope to get the lake level back up next spring.
