Two Mid-Michigan Lowe’s stores are being shuttered.
The company confirmed that the Lowe’s in Burton, located at 4274 E Court St, and the Lowe’s in Flint, located at 2100 T.A. Mansour Blvd, will be closed by the end of January.
The big-box chain said the move was part of a larger-scale move to close certain “underperforming store locations”.
Overall, 20 U.S. stores are being closed, and 31 in Canada and other locations.
“While decisions that impact our associates are never easy, the store closures are a necessary step in our strategic reassessment as we focus on building a stronger business,” said Marvin R. Ellison, Lowe’s president and CEO. “We believe our people are the foundation of our business and essential to our future growth, and we are making every effort to transition impacted associates to nearby Lowe’s stores.”
The company said that most associates at the stores slated for closure will be “extended opportunities to transition to a similar role at a nearby Lowe’s store.”
