Today is the final day for two Mid-Michigan Lowe’s stores.
A store manager said Sunday, Jan. 13 is the last day for the Burton store, located at 4274 E Court St., and Flint Township store, located at 2100 T.A. Mansour Blvd.
The manager said the stores will stay open until all items are sold or 8 p.m. at the latest.
The big-box chain said the move was part of a larger-scale move to close certain “underperforming store locations”.
Overall, 20 U.S. stores are being closed, and 31 in Canada and other locations.
“While decisions that impact our associates are never easy, the store closures are a necessary step in our strategic reassessment as we focus on building a stronger business,” said Marvin R. Ellison, Lowe’s president and CEO. “We believe our people are the foundation of our business and essential to our future growth, and we are making every effort to transition impacted associates to nearby Lowe’s stores.”
The company said that most associates at the stores slated for closure will be “extended opportunities to transition to a similar role at a nearby Lowe’s store.”
