An missing endangered teen from northern Michigan has been found in Macon, Georgia.

Leah Jo Scanlon, 15, was reported missing at 10:09 p.m. on Thursday, March 15 and was last seen in Cadillac.

Wexford County Det. Lt. Mary Penney worked with multiple law enforcement agencies including Michigan State Police, agencies in Georgia, and the FBI.

In a coordinated effort, authorities determined Scanlon was on a bus in Georgia.

They located and stopped the bus near Macon, Georgia and she was taken to a law enforcement agency late Friday night, March 16.

Her parents were then notified and went to pick her up.

“I am extremely proud of the job my team did to locate Miss Scanlon,” said Wexford County Sheriff Trent Taylor. “We immediately contacted out colleagues at the Cadillac State Police Post and the Cadillac City Police to work together to get the investigation underway. Det. Lt. Marty Penney and Dep. Sgt. Kevin Kovach worked throughout the night until she was found, and we are relieved that the outcome was positive.”
