More than 2,000 inmates have contacted COVID-19 at a local prison.
The Central Michigan Correctional Facility (CMCF), located at 320 Hubbard St. in St. Louis, has 1,879 active COVID-19 cases.
The facility has tested 2,658 of its inmates and 642 have tested negative.
There are 2,016 total prisoner COVID-19 cases at CMCF, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections.
Two prisoners at the facility have died from the virus.
The tier one prison houses a maximum of 2,560 inmates, according to the MDOC.
The Central Michigan Correctional Facility also has 18\7 staff members that have tested positive for the virus.
MDOC said daily testing is held at its facilities for prisoners and is completed when prisoners are set to parole, discharge, or other movements.
