There were more than 6,600 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Michigan on Wednesday.
As of Sept. 15, there were a total of 983,109 confirmed cases with 20,597 deaths in Michigan.
There were 6,604 new confirmed cases and 44 deaths since Monday, including 41 deaths identified during a vital records review.
For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. Older adults and people with existing health problems are among those particularly susceptible to more severe illness, including pneumonia. The vast majority of people recover.
As of Sept. 10, the state is reporting 896,206 people have recovered.
