A domestic situation involving a woman shooting at a man caused a police chase and a deadly crash Friday afternoon.

The female and the male got into a vehicle and left the scene in Saginaw, Michigan State Police Lt. David Kaiser said.

Residents said the man and woman pulled over on the 9000 block of Sheridan Road in Burt and got out of the car. They say that's when the woman pulled a gun from her purse and started shooting at the man. At some point the pair got back into the car and took off down the road.

At 2:45 p.m., Shiawassee County Central Dispatch told Saginaw County Central Dispatch several shots were fired from a white Cadillac occupied by the man and woman.

At 3 p.m., the man was spotted driving down M-13 toward Shiawassee County and the woman got out of the car during a traffic stop.

The man then took control of the car and drove off at a high rate of speed, evading police, Kaiser said.

A deputy spotted the suspect vehicle and pursued chase.

The suspect then crashed into another vehicle head-on at the westbound I-69 exit ramp to M-13 (Sheridan Road), Kaiser said.

The driver of the other vehicle, an 84-year-old man from Owosso, was pronounced dead and the suspect is in critical condition.

No names are being released at this time.

That crash was reported at 4:02 p.m. and the scene was cleared about 6 p.m.

Exit ramp 123 (Sheridan Road) was closed due to the crash but is now back open.

The incident remains under investigation.
