Police: Driver killed in crash on I-75 may have been drunk

Authorities say an alleged drunken driver was killed after crashing his SUV on a busy Mid-Michigan interstate.

It happened about 12:50 a.m. Tuesday on southbound I-75, just south of Bay County at mile marker 156.

Investigators said a 40-year-old Saginaw man was driving a 1998 Suburban when he lost control of the SUV, hit a construction barrel and crashed.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believed the man was drunk at the time of the crash and he was not wearing his seat belt, the Saginaw County Sheriff said.

The highway was shut down for several hours between M-84 and I-675 following the crash.
