Authorities need the public's help finding the driver of a truck involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a Mid-Michigan man.

It happened about 11:55 p.m. Saturday, May 5 on Sebewaing Road in front of the Silver Bullet Speedway in Grant Township.

Investigators said a 2002 Lincoln Town Car was eastbound on Sebewaing Road near the Speedway entrance when a westbound 1999 Dodge pickup failed to yield and turned in front of the car.

The driver of the Town Car, a 20-year-old Caseville man, was seriously injured in the crash. He was taken to Scheurer Hospital by ambulance and later transferred to an out of county hospital for treatment.

The driver of the pickup fled the scene on foot, police said.

Witnesses told police the pickup had previously left another Speedway and was driving recklessly. The witnesses could not provide a description of the driver, though.

The owner of the pickup told investigators his pickup had been taken without his permission and he knew of no suspects.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Huron County Sheriff’s Department at 989-269-6500 during regular business hours, or Huron Central Dispatch anytime at 989-269-6421.
