An Oakland County man has been charged with nearly a dozen sex crimes after investigators say his son found "graphic" child pornography on his tablet.
Michigan State Police troopers were sent to a home in northwestern Oakland County for a report of a runaway about 7 p.m. on Jan. 31.
When troopers contacted the boy, he told them he had found child porn on his dad’s tablet.
Troopers notified Child Protective Services and the boy was put in the care of other family members.
Troopers went back to the home of the boy and met with the father.
After getting a warrant, troopers searched the home and “large amounts of evidence” of child porn was found, MSP said.
"It's so bad and graphic, my assistant prosecutor - who's assigned to the sex crimes division - took sick at looking at these DVDs and photographs," Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said.
Troopers said the Groveland Township home was extremely cluttered and a full search will take a long time.
A MSP cyber dog was called in to help with the search.
"Some of the victims are what we would call infants," Leyton said.
The evidence found spans many years, MSP said.
The father, 43-year-old Jeremy David McCallum, was arrested at the time.
"These are recordings of him with young, very young children, doing unspeakable things to those children," Leyton said.
Leyton said it's one of the worst sex crimes he's seen.
McCallum was arraigned in Genesee County District Court on Monday, Feb. 3. He was arraigned on 10 counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of felony firearm, one count of child sexual abuse, one count of extortion, and one count assault with a dangerous weapon.
"The sheer number of crimes that appear to have been committed is mind-boggling," Leyton said.
Leyton said the suspect has videos and images of himself with victims as young as infants.
While McCallum lives in Oakland County, Leyton said, “In the photographs we were able to determine the sexual assaults occurred in Grand Blanc Township."
McCallum is being held in the Genesee County Jail without bond.
Troopers are continuing to investigate items found in McCallum’s home.
"We expect that by early next week we will have probably an excess of 80 counts against this gentleman,” Leyton said. “The child pornography charges are going to be handled by the federal prosecutor in the United States District Court. So those will be more charges on top of the 80. Plus, charges of sexual assault that we bring."
