Vassar Middle and High School students were sent home early Tuesday after an unknown smell caused the Senior High building to be evacuated.

The district posted on Facebook that students in grades 6-12 were evacuated to Central Elementary after the smell was noticed at around 9 a.m.

Students received bag lunches, and students in grades 6-12 were picked up by bus from Central at around 12:30 and are being sent home.

Consumers Energy was called in and said there was no gas leak, the district reported.
