A male suspect is in custody after he allegedly brought a gun to a Mid-Michigan school.

PIO Tyrone Booth with the City of Flint Police Department said around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday the police department received a report about a man with a gun at Southwestern High School.

The caller told 911 dispatchers the male suspect left the school in a vehicle.

Responding units saw the vehicle and performed a traffic stop on the suspect. The driver was taken into custody and a firearm was found, Booth said.

Several students were on school property at the time, so the school went into lockdown mode.

“We have not received any reports from anyone at the school during the time of the incident stating that they were threatened or harmed in anyway by the subject,” Booth said.

It's unclear if the suspect was a student, and police are investigating why he was at the school.
